Land Rover Series IIA

Automobiles

The Series IIA took over from the Series II in 1961 and is so close to it that the two are hard to tell apart, with only minor cosmetic changes. It was offered in everything from a short-wheelbase soft top to a five-door station wagon, gained a 2.25-litre diesel and, from 1967, a 2.6-litre six-cylinder petrol unit fitted only to the long-wheelbase models. Many people regard it as the toughest Series model, and it was in production when utility Land Rover sales peaked at over 60,000 a year in 1969 and 1970. The forward-control IIA and IIB belong to the same era.
