1966 Land Rover Series

Automobiles

Two lines of development date from 1966. The Series IIB Forward Control began production, similar to the IIA Forward Control but with the 2.25-litre diesel as an option, heavy-duty wide-track ENV axles, a front anti-roll bar and rear springs mounted above the axle, and a wheelbase stretched to 110 inches. And in America, Richard Green of Rover's North American company began building a V8 prototype on a 1966 88-inch Station Wagon, the Golden Rod, an early step towards the later Stage 1 V8.
