2005 Land Rover Freelander

Automobiles

The 2005 model year was the last in which the Freelander was sold in North America. MG Rover Group went into administration, and without its Powertrain division the KV6 engine could no longer be built, so Land Rover discontinued the Freelander in the United States and Canada on 31 August 2005 after selling only 2,141 there that year. Land Rover then stayed out of the compact SUV segment until the Freelander 2 arrived as the LR2 in 2008.
