2001 Land Rover Freelander

Automobiles

In 2001 the Freelander got a BMW-built 2.0-litre Td4 diesel and the 2.5-litre Rover KV6 petrol V6, and automatic Tiptronic-style gearboxes became increasingly popular, standard on the V6. The Freelander was launched in the United States and Canada that year for the 2002 model year, with the KV6 and a five-speed Jatco automatic only, in S, SE and HSE trims for the five-door. The KV6 was later to have problems with its cast-iron cylinder liners.
