For 1980 the Ohio factory made a diesel powered CJ-7 for export only, using an Isuzu engine, and the Laredo trim was first fitted with an AMC 20 rear axle that year. All 1980 and newer CJ-7s came with the Dana 300 transfer case, and the Golden Hawk sticker package of 1980 was offered on the CJ-7 along with the CJ-5 and Cherokee. A Laredo package added a tachometer, chrome bumpers, tow hooks and leather seats.
