From 1961 until 1965 the British made Perkins 192 cubic inch four cylinder diesel with 62 horsepower was optional on the CJ-5 and the CJ-6, and 1961 also saw the Tuxedo Park trim line designed to make the CJ more comfortable and appealing to the general public. The Perkins diesel option and the Tuxedo Park trim showed the CJ-5 shifting from a farm utility vehicle toward broader appeal, in a year when Kaiser owned the Willys Jeep business.
