The CJ-5 debuted for 1955, the round fendered body that replaced the flat fendered look of the CJ-3B and was influenced by the Korean War M38A1 military Jeep and by Willys' new owner Kaiser. It was intended to replace the CJ-3B but that model stayed in production, so the CJ-5 followed the same pattern, continuing for three decades while newer models appeared, and its distinctive round fenders marked it out from the flat fendered Jeeps that came before it in the CJ line..
