The Cherokee was facelifted for 1997, and production of the Cherokee Special Service Package continued for the 1997 model year into the 2001 model year. The 1997 to 2001 phase had a restyled front with a new interior and improved noise, vibration and harshness. The Cherokee Sport and Country trims were joined later by the Classic and Limited in 1998, and the freshened interior of 1997 to 2001 included new door seals that reduced wind noise at higher speeds.
