The Laredo upholstery package became part of the Cherokee line from 1980, the sixth model year of the full size SJ, as the trim levels broadened to include the S, Chief, Golden Eagle and Golden Hawk. Both the Quadra-Trac permanent four wheel drive and manual gearbox models continued. The Laredo was the final upholstery package of the range, and the T-18 four speed manual was standard in all years of the SJ.
