1973 Imperial (1955 to 1983)

Automobiles

New federal bumper standards for 1973 gave the Imperial large rubber guards front and rear, adding almost six inches to its length and making it the longest production car in North America that year and the longest postwar non limousine production car, at 235.3 inches. The front bumper ends revived a Woodlite headlamp look from the 1930s. As it was a good year for the industry, 16,729 Imperials were built and sold, though Chrysler planned to drop the Imperial after this year.
