A bolder waterfall grille appeared on the 1975 Imperial, whose front bumper received cooling slots, and the Crown name returned for a coupe with an opera window. It was the last model year of the independent Imperial make, with only 8,830 sold, and the last Imperial, a black LeBaron hardtop, rolled out on June 12, 1975. The same car lived on more cheaply as the Chrysler New Yorker Brougham from 1976 to 1978, since the price gap over a high end New Yorker was hard to justify.
