The 1974 Imperial used the New Yorker's body panels except for a new front end clip and trunk lid, with a waterfall grille of thin vertical chrome bars, so that for the first time as a separate make it shared a wheelbase with a production Chrysler. It was the first regular American car with four wheel disc brakes since the 1949 to 1954 Chrysler Imperials, and had electronic ignition and an optional car alarm. A 50th Anniversary LeBaron Crown Coupe in Golden Fawn was built, only 57 of them.
