1951 Hudson Commodore

Automobiles

Hudson introduced a new six cylinder engine for 1951, and General Motors' fully automatic Hydra Matic transmission became an option. The grille changed from a rectangular to an oval shape, a design that continued through 1953. To follow the market, Hudson added its first pillarless hardtop body style during the model year, named Hollywood, a two door design available in the Commodore series with production starting in January 1951.
