Honda launched the third-generation CR-V in 2006 as a 2007 model, with U.S. sales starting in late September 2006. It switched to a rear liftgate with the spare tire underneath instead of a side opening door, was lower, wider and shorter than before, and used Honda's K series 2.4 liter engine in North America with an R20A 2.0 liter in Europe. It became the best selling SUV in the United States in 2007, and received a facelift for the 2010 model year. Each model year of this generation has its own page.
