On 14 September 2018 Holden announced that the Barina would be dropped from the line up, ending a nameplate that had been sold between 1985 and 2018 in Oceania. The sixth generation was based on the second generation Chevrolet Aveo, and had been given a facelift in November 2016 that dropped the RS and sedan models. The 2018 Barina was the last year of the sixth generation, a Holden hatchback dropped in September 2018 after thirty three years.
