The Riley Elf is the Riley version of the Mini, released in 1961 as a more luxurious car than the Austin and Morris Minis, and the more expensive of the two three box cars with the Wolseley Hornet. Its name recalled the Riley Sprite and Imp sports cars of the 1930s, because Riley's first choice of name, Imp, could not be used as Hillman had registered it. It had a full width dashboard in wood veneer, the idea of the Riley sales manager Christopher Milner, and ended in 1969. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 3 generations: the Mark I (1961 to 1963); the Mark II (1963 to 1966); the Mark III (1966 to 1969).

Variants, Wolseley Hornet and Riley Elf
Released in 1961 as more luxurious versions of the Mini, both the Wolseley Hornet and the Riley Elf had longer, slightly finned rear wings and larger boots that gave the cars a more conventional three-box design.
