The Austin 7 is the economy car that Austin produced from 1922 until 1939, nicknamed the Baby Austin, one of the most popular cars made for the British market and sold well abroad. Its effect on the British market was similar to that of the Model T Ford in the United States, wiping out the cyclecar industry. It was licensed and copied by companies all over the world, and the first BMW car, the BMW Dixi, was a licensed Austin 7. By 1939 290,000 cars and vans had been made. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the single generation (1922 to 1939).
