The Scion iQ was introduced in North America for the 2012 model year, and the electric iQ EV was due to be produced at the Takaoka plant from August 2012. In September 2012 Toyota limited production of the electric iQ to 100 units for fleet use in Japan and carsharing in the United States, citing range and charging time concerns. It was model year 5 of 9 in the Toyota iQ (single generation), 2008 to 2016, coming after the 2011 model year and before the 2013 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota iQ run from 2008 to 2016.
