In September 1998 production of the JA4 Honda Life ended, with sales ending the following month when stock ran out. The third generation of 1998, chassis JB1, went on sale the day after its introduction on 8 October 1998, and was larger than its short lived predecessor in both length and width. The E07Z replaced the E07A engine, improving torque at low engine speeds by about 20 percent, and it met requirements for low emission vehicles.
