In 1959 a Borg Warner automatic transmission became available in Australia, where the Mark II Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac were built at Ford Australia's factory in Geelong, in sedan, coupe utility and station wagon versions, with no Zodiac station wagons. As well as a three speed manual gearbox an overdrive was optional. Drum brakes were fitted all round. It was one of the Three Graces, with the Consul and the Zodiac. The Zephyr was an executive car from Ford of Britain, with the Zodiac as its luxury variant.
