The Mark I Ford Consul and Zephyr models were first displayed at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1950, and were the first mass produced British cars to use MacPherson strut independent front suspension. The Zephyr Six was a lengthened version of the four cylinder 1,508 cc Consul, with a 2,262 cc six cylinder engine producing 68 horsepower. The Zephyr Zodiac followed in 1953. Its model years run from 1950 to 1955.
