The final Mercury Monterey was produced by Oakville Assembly on 25 August 2006, and the final Freestar was produced on 29 December 2006, the end of the line for the Freestar in North America. The 2006 and 2007 models still suffered from torque converter problems, though they were not recalled. The Freestar carried much of the trim lineup of the Windstar, with two exceptions: the SES and S trim levels replaced the LX and Sport.
