Production of the Vedette ended in 1954, after six years in which the car was made by Ford SAF at its Poissy plant. Ford France was merged into Simca that year, together with the Poissy plant and the rights to all its models, and a newly designed Vedette followed under Simca. The Vedette was a large Ford built in France, designed in Detroit and fitted with a small V8 engine. Ford SAF built it at Poissy, and it was the only French car of its time with a V8.
