In 1996 the VE83 Transit was in its third year with the 1994 facelift, offered with a new nose, a new dashboard and a 2.0 liter DOHC petrol engine, and as the Tourneo minibus. Naturally aspirated and turbo diesels with electronic Lucas injection pumps were available. In China the Jiangling Motors licence built version, introduced in 1997, would begin the following year with JMC adding 70 major updates.
