1985 was the last full year of the Transit Mark II, which had been introduced as a facelift in August 1977 and which, with the Mark I body, had lasted over twenty years as a platform before the all new VE6 replaced it in 1986. It was built at Southampton and Genk with the Pinto petrol and the direct injection York diesel, and with the Ghia bus and SIRA four wheel drive in some markets. The engine range had been refreshed in 1984 with the direct injection York diesel.
