In 1979 the Transit Mark II was in its second year with the restyled nose and the in line Pinto petrol engines in place of the V4s, alongside York diesels. It was built in Southampton, England and Genk, Belgium, and Amsterdam made them for the Dutch market. Australia offered the 4.1 liter six, introduced in September 1978, and the Transit remained the leading European van. The Transit was Ford of Europe's first product, introduced in October 1965.
