In 1976 the Transit was in its eleventh year with the first generation body, a year before the major facelift of August 1977. It was produced at Southampton, Genk and Amsterdam, and its production lasted over twenty years in total before the all new VE6 platform replaced it in 1986. In South Korea Hyundai developed a Transit based van, built only between 1977 and 1981 as the Korean auto industry was reorganized.
