In 2013 production of the second generation Transit Connect took place at Valencia in Spain, with the Kinetic Design look and an optional rear liftgate in addition to the double doors. As before, cargo vans for the United States were shipped as passenger vans and converted afterwards, to avoid a tariff. It sat between the Transit Courier and the Transit Custom in the Ford Transit range. The Transit Connect was Ford's compact panel van, developed by Ford of Europe as a dedicated commercial vehicle.
