Ford offered the Taunus TC in 1971 as a two or four door sedan or a five door station wagon or estate, identified like the earlier Taunus wagons as the Turnier. The TC was developed with the Cortina Mk III under the leadership of Ford of Europe and had many shared parts. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations.
