The last of the diesels in the 2017 S-Max, the Bi turbo 2.0 TDCi 210, came with the Powershift gearbox only and could go from nought to 62 miles per hour in under nine seconds. The range had one diesel engine in four tunes, and two EcoBoost petrol engines of 160 and 240 horsepower. Ford marketed it both as a multi purpose vehicle and as a sports activity vehicle, aimed at buyers who wanted space without giving up driving fun.
