The trims of the 2016 S-Max were Zetec, Titanium and Titanium Sport, matching the Galaxy, Mondeo and Edge, with an executive sport version above them. The 2.0 TDCi 150 and 180 diesels came with a six speed manual or the Powershift automatic, and the 180 could be had with all wheel drive. The S-Max was a Ford designed mid size people carrier that shared parts with the Galaxy and the Mondeo, and it was sold only in Europe. Ford marketed it both as a multi purpose vehicle and as a sports activity vehicle, aimed at buyers who wanted space without giving up driving fun.
