Ford Brasil made only 538 petrol and 587 ethanol Landaus in 1981, all in navy blue, as demand for the big sedan fell during the oil crisis. The Del Rey, a smaller car based on the Corcel II, took over the role of Ford's Brazilian flagship family car that year. Ford Brasil produced it at its São Paulo area plant for twelve years. The Landau was Ford's top model in Brazil and the only large American style sedan the company built there.
