The 2007 Galaxy was assembled at a newly equipped plant at Genk in Belgium, next to the Mondeo, rather than at Autoeuropa in Portugal. It used only Ford engines, with Duratorq diesels of 1.8 and 2.0 litres and a 2.2 TDCi for more power. It was slotted between the Tourneo Connect and the Tourneo Custom in the Ford range, and was the first Ford brand people carrier made outside North America. The Galaxy was a seven seat people carrier that Ford built for the European market, sharing its platform with the Mondeo in its later forms.
