The last first generation Galaxy came in 2005, the year after Ford sold its stake in AutoEuropa back to the Volkswagen Group. The next Galaxy would carry no Volkswagen content and would be built in Belgium. The existing car had sold in large numbers since its 1995 launch. It was slotted between the Tourneo Connect and the Tourneo Custom in the Ford range, and was the first Ford brand people carrier made outside North America.
