In 2003 the first generation Galaxy still carried Ford badges on engines that were Volkswagen Group designs, including the VR6 and the 1.9 TDI, with Volkswagen automatic gearboxes. A second row bench and a three seat third row gave seven seats, and a four sedan style door layout set it apart from its American rivals. It was slotted between the Tourneo Connect and the Tourneo Custom in the Ford range, and was the first Ford brand people carrier made outside North America.
