In 2019 the Fusion was the seventh best selling car in the United States, and the performance oriented Fusion Sport was discontinued after the 2019 model year as Ford focused on more popular styles of the Fusion. The Mustang replaced the Fusion in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in 2019. Ford was winding down its American sedans. The Platinum trim added for 2017 remained the top of the range, with heated and cooled seats and Nappa leather.
