In 1985 the XF was the first model since the XP not to offer a V8 engine, with three six cylinder options being carburetted 3.3 and 4.1 litre engines and the fuel injected 4.1 litre which now used Ford's EEC IV engine management system. The Fairmont Ghia received the high end Fairlane and LTD dashboard with comprehensive digital instrumentation. The XF continued the sales leadership of its predecessor. The Falcon was a full size car made by Ford Australia.
