In July 2014 Ford Australia released official photographs of the last iteration of the Falcon in XR guise, labelling the reintroduced XR8 as the best Falcon ever, and in August 2014 revealed that the last series would be known as the FG X. The FG X series was codenamed 201X, and its redesigned front end adopts Ford's Kinetic 2.0 styling theme with the trapezoidal grille that debuted on the Ford Evos concept. The Pursuit Ute and the FPV GT F 351 were released in June 2014.
