The seventh generation was the first complete redesign since 1965, with an all new chassis and body, flatter panels and a squarer grille that earned it the nickname bullnose. Developed after the 1979 oil crisis, with fuel economy standards in mind, it could not be downsized without losing payload. Its architecture lasted through 1997 and also underpinned the Bronco, and the F-100 was retired in 1984 as the F-150 became the smallest. Each model year has its own page.
