The Sport Trac ended in October 2010 as Ford developed the fifth generation Explorer as a unibody crossover for the 2011 model year. The fourth generation Ranger in its SuperCrew form served the same market function, as the nearest match in size to the Sport Trac. The Sport Trac was a mid size crew cab pickup that Ford built on a lengthened Explorer chassis, the first mid size pickup Ford produced. All production came from the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky, where it took the place of the Ranger.
