With the 2011 model year the base model became the XL and the XLT was upgraded, with a new XLT Premium trim with gold cladding replacing the Eddie Bauer trim that was phased out from the entire Ford vehicle lineup after 1997 to 2010. HD Radio became standard on all trims and a dual headrest DVD player system became optional. There were no major cosmetic or mechanical changes beyond that. The Expedition was still assembled at the Kentucky Truck Assembly in Louisville.
