Ford Escort (Europe) (Mk1)

Automobiles

The first Escort was the rear wheel drive small car that replaced the Anglia at the end of 1967 and made its show debut in Brussels in January 1968. It was the first passenger car developed by the newly merged Ford of Europe, built first at Halewood in England and soon in Genk and then Saarlouis for continental buyers. It used MacPherson strut front suspension and rack and pinion steering, and it grew into a hugely successful rally car, with Twin Cam, Mexico, RS1600 and RS2000 versions. Its model years run from 1968 to 1974.
