There were no cosmetic or equipment changes for the 2012 model year of the Escape. Ford ended production of the second generation in 2012, with the last built on 28 April 2012, and moved production to Louisville, Kentucky, where it was succeeded by a new Escape based on the Kuga. The third generation Escape was unveiled at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 2012 Escape was limited in availability at Ford showrooms as the 2013 model overlapped it slightly because of plant issues.
