In August 2025 it was announced that Ford would discontinue the Escape after model year 2026. Production of the Escape ended in the United States in December 2025 at the Louisville Assembly plant, marking the conclusion of its twenty five year run in the country, and the plant was to be retooled for electric vehicle production including the Ford Fathom. The Escape continued production into 2026 for New Zealand, assembled in Valencia alongside the Kuga.
