From the 2015 model year on the E Series remained in production solely in cutaway and stripped chassis configurations, because upfitters who convert the chassis into recreational vehicles and buses valued it. The 5.4 litre V8 became the standard engine for 2015, with the 6.8 litre V10. It was the best selling full size van in the United States from 1980 until the Transit replaced the vans in 2014. The E Series was Ford's full size van, sold as the Econoline and Club Wagon and as a cutaway chassis.
