In 1965 the Mark I Cortina was in the second half of its run, sold as the revised Mark 1b with Aeroflow ventilation, a new grille and rectangular indicator units, in Standard, Deluxe, Super and GT trims. The Cortina Lotus, a two door saloon in white with a green side flash and a 1558 cc twin cam engine by Lotus, was the sporting flagship, and it had already given up its fragile A frame rear suspension for the standard layout.
