The second generation Cortina was launched on 18 October 1966, four years after the first, with the slogan New Cortina is more Cortina. Styled by Roy Haynes, it shared some details with the third generation American Falcon and was fractionally shorter than its predecessor at 168 inches. Two and four door saloons were offered with base, Deluxe, Super, GT and later 1600E trims, and period reviews were favourable on styling and performance.
