The Contour and its rebadged Mercury variant, the Mystique, were North American versions of the first generation Mondeo, co developed with it on the Ford CDW27 platform and marketed for the 1995 to 2000 model years as a four door sedan replacing the Ford Tempo. They shared the body structure, powertrain and suspension with the European car and were made at Kansas City Assembly from 15 August 1994. A facelift came for 1998. Its model years run from 1995 to 2000.
