The Capri was unveiled in January 1969 at the Brussels Motor Show, with sales starting the following month, and Ford began selling it in the Australian market in May. It was offered at a wide range of prices through a variety of engines. The British and German factories produced different line ups, and the continental model used the Taunus V4 in 1.3, 1.5 and 1.7 liter sizes. The Essex V6 3.0 liter was announced in September 1969 as the range topper.
