In December 2006 the facelifted C-Max was shown at the Bologna Motor Show, with the Focus name dropped to fit Ford's plan of a line of Max people carriers that began with the S-Max launched in 2006. The new look carried the twin trapezoidal grilles and angular headlights of Kinetic Design. The C-Max was a five door compact people carrier that Ford built on the same platform as the Focus. A longer seven seat version called the Grand C-Max sat above it in the range.
